Below is a small selection of testimonials from mothers I have worked with to improve their experience of breastfeeding
I just wanted to let you know that baby and I are doing really well. I’ve had no pain since I came to see you and baby is gaining weight. Thank you so much for your guidance and support.
What a rollercoaster breastfeeding has been and thanks to Barbara we are definately on the best high! While I was pregnant, I always thought I wouldn’t mind if I breastfed or not, I would be led by my baby. When he arried I could tell breastfeeding was for us, but we couldn’t quite make it happen. I saw multiple midwives, health visitor, breastfeeding clinic. I was at my wits end after three weeks of exclusively expressing, when a midwife suggested lactation consultant Barbara Smith. This was the last attempt before I was switching to formula and parting ways with breastfeeding. From the start Barbara was incredible, she was able to slot me in the very next day and had great communication. She was friendly and welcoming from the off, I was extremely emotional and she was so supportive. Barbara could quickly see where the issues were and I was shown different positions to latch and feed. I left completely nervous and wanted to carry Barbara around with me! Barbara told me I could call or message anytime for help, and wow she has been amazing!!! She replies quickly and is so reassuring and has great ideas.
It’s honestly the best money I’ve ever spent. We were unable to breastfeed before the visit, but from the one appointment with Barbara onwards, I have been breastfeeding successfully!
I wanted to let you know that I’ve now reached the end of my breastfeeding journey at 23 months. 23 months is much longer than I thought I would want to feed and definitely longer than I thought I would be capable of. Your help, advice on tongue tie and more importantly your emotional support at the 2-3 month mark was paramount and pivotal to this success. Thank you so much for this again. Breastfeeding has given me such a beautiful bonding experience with my son over these last 2 years, which I will cherish’solve some of the common issues explored on this website.

‘Thank you does not even come close to how grateful I am for your help. You made me feel at ease with your relaxed and magical ways.’
‘Thank you so very much for the help you gave me with breastfeeding James – I was a very weepy first time Mum, convinced I’d never be able to breastfeed… four months in and breastfeeding is going wonderfully. I’m so grateful for all your help and words of experience and wisdom.’
‘I think that you are a little piece of magic’
‘One all emcompassing THANK YOU for everything from start to (not yet) finish! You have been so generous with your time, support and encouragement and it us helped us have confidence as new parents.’
‘I thought you’d like to hear our success story – Rachael will be 6 months old in a week’s time and I’m still breastfeeding. Thank you for your kindness and for your gentle approach at a time when I was very vulnerable.’
‘Thank you so much for all your support with breastfeeding. You were, and are amazing and the hospital is very lucky to have you’
January 2019 - ‘your help was an absolute lifesaver, and I’ve always been so grateful – I’ve mentioned you to lots of people since as probably the only reason I made it through a pretty horrendous first few weeks of breastfeeding! I went on to breastfeed Bella for a year which was great
December 2018 - ‘I just want to say thank you for help and encouragement when they were most needed. William is enjoying some (lightly) mulled wine flavoured milk at his first Christmas!’
‘August 2018 – ‘…Matty is finally breastfeeding properly! Thank you so much for showing me techniques so patiently and for cheering me on. We are so grateful for your help.’
May 2018 – ‘I just wanted to say a huge thank you again for your help and support today and over the last few weeks. I really don’t know what we would do without having you as a constant source of support and reassurance’ I’m not a quitter or easily put off things but this (breastfeeding) has been the hardest thing I have ever done.‘
February 2018 – ‘… You said lots of wise things and were so kind, but the number 1 thing that helped was that you didn’t put a timeframe on my breastfeeding success. You gave me the light I needed to plug ahead on my own terms. Alice is the most beautiful baby who melts my heart when she snuggles on for a feed’
June 2015 I wanted to write to say thank you for you advice and support you gave that enabled me and my daughter to breastfeed successfully. Sophie turned 1 on Saturday – I would never have believed that I would be still breastfeeding after all this time. It’s lovely that we continue to share that special time together.
September 2017 Having attended courses and read a lot of research before my daughter was born, my husband and I strongly believed in the benefits of breastfeeding and I committed myself to exclusively breastfeed. However, after two weeks of motherhood I was in a lot of pain. Barbara came to our rescue and provided the technical and emotional support we needed. She has a wonderful caring approach and quickly guided my daughter and I to a feeding position which allowed my skin to heal. I’m very proud that I exclusively breastfed my daughter but I couldn’t have done it without Barbara’s guidance and encouragement and the support of my husband and family – a real team effort!
August 2017 I just wanted to write to thank you again for all your help and support over the last couple of weeks. Your visits were an absolute godsend and I always felt so much happier and more positive afterwards, even when I was at meltdown stage beforehand. We really couldn’t have done it without you! May 2014 Thank you so so much for all your help and time. You really have been a great help and so reassuring with all your advice.
